the chemical industry has seen shrinking profits in the last two years. under this unfavorable situation, harbin petrochemical launched continuous improvements to solve bottleneck problems in production and operations, managing to bring down costs and increase efficiency. as of late july, its two production factories had completed 37 continuous improvement projects.
the company modified its sustainable improvement work system and work procedures, set up a special committee and office, and clarified responsibilities in all departments. it asked all employees to join the activities.
the two production plants carry out weekly reports and monthly summaries. they hold regular meetings on tuesday to review reasonable suggestions based on the past week and the latest developments in sustainable improvement work. at the end of every month, the company will release a progress report on sustainable improvement work in the oa system. it will also hold a yellow belt project symposium from time to time to gather leaders to discuss implementation and management of their projects. it will also create a weekly data report to help the sustainable improvement team better control projects.
as of late july, factory employees had offered 176 suggestions for continuous improvement, up 57 percent as compared with last year. they carried out 21 green and yellow belt projects to lower consumption of propylene, benzene and power, achieving great economic benefits. the two plants have also enhanced energy conservation, automatic control and instrumentation control, reducing maintenance costs, saving more than one million yuan. in the second half of the year, the company will follow its chief technology officer’s guidance and continue to optimize operations, increase production and reduce consumption. it will carry out many sustainable improvement projects and take important measures to bring down costs and increase efficiency.
