the bluestar harbin petrochemical corp has come up with a new performance evaluation system for its employees, done monthly and quarterly and, in the first four months, has seen output and quality improved, while energy and material consumption and maintenance costs have gone down. in two of its branches, the new system brought 3.5 million in direct benefits and workers received bonuses for their performance. this year, it is including output, quality, maintenance, energy and other material consumption in its performance evaluations and it has awareness of the need for frugality and cost controls, while, at the same time, making a greater effort at cost controls and innovation in line with continued improvement and world-class manufacturing development. during the four months that the system was being implemented, raw materials consumption was controlled and energy and other material consumption was reduced considerably. the new system has meant a savings of 5-percent in costs saved, providing employees with a bonus. it has brought benefits to the company and employees both, and workers are more aware of cost controls and improved efficiency.
