bluestar elkem has been working this year on the optimal use of equipment and related improvements since deciding to improve its solar silicon products, on jan 28, and has moved forward with products innovation. and, it announced its new alloy for polycrystalline silicon at the 8th pv power expo, in shanghai, may 20 - 22.
this new alloy extends the service life of standard polysilicon and reduces oxygen content and carbon uptake of silicon for better productivity and efficiency. it also reduces light-induced defects of crystalline silicon solar cells, increasing product value.
elkem is a bluestar foreign subsidiary that produces high purity industrial silicon, castings, and carbon products, with bases in norway, iceland and canada. its solar business started in 2009, with 200 employees and it can produce energy-efficient, environmentally friendly solar silicon, with an energy consumption of only 25 percent that of conventional solar silicon.
