china national bluestar (group) co., ltd. held the 2016 work conference in beijing on january 29. at the conference, a summary was made for 2015 and arrangements set for 2016.executive general manager and party secretary of bluestar wang dazhuang gave a work report entitled “stay oriented toward problem solving, deepen reform and innovation, and vigorously promote transformation and upgrade for better quality and efficiency.”
in 2015, despite the severe economic situation, under the leadership of chemchina and the board of directors, bluestar gripped “one center and two priorities”, earnestly implemented the decisions made at the group’s work conferences, stayed oriented to problem solving, reinforced the restructuring of the company, active in merger & acquisition, continued to push forward the marketing reform, and worked relentlessly to reduce the cost and increase the efficiency. thanks to these efforts, the balance sheet looks better, major strategic projects have been accomplished and the yearly profits have increased. in 2015, overseas subsidiaries contributed significantly: bluestar issued bonds overseas and adisseo was listed in mainland china, both to capitalize assets and securitize the capital; elkem and bsi completed asset integration and rec joined the bluestar family, completing bluestar’s global silicon industrial chain; companies below the third tier were restructured to optimize the company’s industrial layout; the production capacity was maximized with comparatively lower input to continue to help companies improve quality and efficiency.
while arranging the work for 2016, the meeting called on to continue to focus on priority tasks set by the group, and center on quality and efficiency improvement, with structural adjustment as the main thread, international operation as the architecture, the 13th five-year plan of the company as the guidance and capital and real operation as the driving force. the priority is to set up effective incentive and restraint mechanisms and mature business modes, continue to strengthen marketing, stop losses, optimize mergers and restructuring, deepen corporate management, reduce the production cost, improve the process, strengthen energy conservation and environmental protection, advance s&t innovation and push companies to shift from production-oriented manufacturing to service-oriented manufacturing. efforts will be concentrated in the following nine areas in 2016: vigorously promoting marketing and improving production and operation performance; accelerating structural adjustment and optimizing asset allocation; improving corporate management and facilitating corporate reform and development; tightening regulation and control of investment projects and increasing the benefits of technological innovation; deepening r&d and facilitating innovation among companies; strengthening production safety and achieving targets of energy conservation and emission reduction; building a talent pool and strengthening human resources management; steadily advancing party construction and actively spreading the corporate culture; deploying the 13th five-year plan and transforming and upgrading companies.
chemchina chairman and party secretary and bluestar chairman ren jianxin attended and addressed the meeting. he spoke highly of the progress and achievements made by bluestar in 2015 in operational performance, structural adjustment, financial management, process optimization and profit making, especially the contribution made by overseas subsidiaries. he pointed out that the key to problem solving was to establish effective incentive and restraint mechanisms and mature business modes, and learn advanced managerial ideas and systems from overseas companies; be more open-minded and forward-looking in structural adjustment and asset integration; actively explore various kinds of solutions to problems with “zombie companies” and companies in need under the guidance of national policies.
in his themed speech, bluestar ceo michael koenig expressed confidence in leading the company to embrace new opportunities and meet new challenges despite the global economic downturn and building the company into a world-leading chemical company.
then 10 functional departments of bluestar headquarters disclosed information about their work in 2015 at the meeting. in addition, the video "2015 bluestar model workers" was played at the conference hall in response to the group’s call for giving play to the demonstrative role of model workers. then group discussions were held over the annual work report of chemchina and bluestar and how to help companies in need, establish effective incentive and restraint mechanisms and mature business modes and implement the 13th five-year plan.
the meeting attracted 155 delegates, including board directors, the management, executives of subsidiaries, staff above the assistant director level at headquarters departments and employees’ representatives. attending subsidiaries agreed to convey the meeting decisions to their employees, and in particular work hard to solve problems raised in the work report and by delegates, stop their shortcomings and make improvements accordingly; earnestly implement the tasks and requirements put forth at the meeting one by one, and concentrate resources to accomplish the work targets for 2106.
