the project was built on the existing 1.2-million-ton-per-year potassium sulfate project. the luobupo salt lake’s 1.2-million-ton-per-year potassium sulfate packaged technology undertaken by the institute won the first national science and technology progress prize in january this year. the unit has reaped good economic and social benefits since going into operation in 2008. however, it still can’t satisfy demand. therefore, the decision was made to expand the capacity of the processing plant to fully tap the potential of all units, while retaining the existing technical process and product solutions. the project involved a relatively small investment, but could raise the annual capacity of potassium sulfate to 1.5 million tons a year.
