on march 5, the gansu federation of trade unions held an awards ceremony to honor 49 model collectives and 50 model workers. wei hongmei, head of bluestar lanzhou’s daheng department no 1, won the female model award.
wei has been working at the frontline of chemical production for more than 20 years. she started off as a unit operator in 1991 and worked her way up to her current position. her outstanding performance has won every fellow worker’s recognition. she never stops learning new things, and has continued to make efforts to break technical problems, which has earned her the company’s trust. wei has always kept her feet on the ground, and has become a paragon of devotion at her ordinary post.
