after bluestar new chemical materials co’s guangxi branch found that an ore material it used to use had a high price and supplies were unstable, causing product and quality problems, it began looking for a replacement as a solution and got what it wanted after some modifications. but the new ore is a fine powder, which makes acidolysis more intense and incomplete because its titanium dioxide plant doesn’t have an acidolysis and premix system. so, the company had to be creative and switched from a high-concentration sulfuric acid to a lower concentration and added a cooler to the air compressor to avoid intense reactions. it also reworked its concentrated acid tanks on two production lines, enlarged the overflow port, cut the number of operator errors, fixed the acid feeds, and based acid use on the amount of ore to ensure proper acidolysis. while using the new ore, technical personnel tinkered with the process to ensure product quality and better acidolysis time, and opened the air compressor to bring the temperature down to prevent early hydrolysis. in addition, they reworked related equipment at titanium dioxide plant no.2, and did a technological upgrade of the raymond mill rollers and feeding model to ensure product quality. they also monitored the production process, especially acidolysis, changed the feed for light titaniferous solution during acidolysis leaching, and did a regular analysis of light titaniferous solution concentrations.
now, the company’s product quality is stable after many trials and errors and the new ore is more stable than the previous one and can save 400 yuan per ton. it’s put in big bags and can be unloaded by forklift, reducing the amount of work. the guangxi branch company will increase the use of the new model, control product quality at the source and bring down production costs.
