metallocene polyethylene is a high-grade polyethylene resin. when a small amount of metallocene polyethylene is added, the films for agricultural use will show a better strength, anti-tear performance, light transmission, and air tightness. such films help increase the light absorption of crops and lower the cost of farmers. besides, metallocene polyethylene is also used to make food packaging films such as those in tetra pak, and laminated films.
according to experts, the production of metallocene poses very high demands for material quality and technical operation, and only several foreign chemical giants such as exxon/mobil, dow, mitsui, and lg, were able to produce it. in terms of price, metallocene polyethylene is higher than conventional linear low density polyethylene by about 15%, but domestic film producers had to import it from abroad at a high price.
shenyang chemical imported the equipment for producing metallocene polyethylene from the us and spent less than a year to learn and absorb relevant technologies, try out the processes, and build the equipment. now the system is launched successfully at the first attempt with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons, delivering qualified products and stable operation. the company that provided this equipment and technology is exactly the one that supplies the technology to exxon/mobil, and according to the assessment of their experts, shenyang chemical’s products are of the same quality as those of exxon/mobile. shenyang chemical is now producing four different grades of metallocene polyethylene, all are high-performance grades, presenting good fusibility and imposing lower requirements on downstream users. this successful launch is a milestone in shenyang chemical’s march towards more refined high-end products, bringing new benefits to the company.
