september 1, 2014 marks the 30th anniversary of china national bluestar (group) co., ltd. on august 29, mr. ren jianxin, general manager of chemchina and chairman of bluestar, attended a simple but meaningful celebration together with employees of bluestar headquarters. participants had a good time in commemoration of the past three decades of the company.
a red panel was erected in the lobby of the company building, featuring the style of traditional chinese ink and wash painting to create an auspicious and elegant image. a shining “milky way” shows the milestone years of bluestar: 1984 marked its inauguration, 1996 its relocation to beijing and going public, 2006 its first overseas m&a, 2008 its joining hands with blackstone, and 2014 its 30th anniversary.
in his speech, ren jianxin gave a moving account of the past three decades of bluestar, covering its kickoff and the entire development process. on september 1 thirty years ago, the first specialized cleaning company of china was founded in lanzhou at the initiative of ren jianxin with one technical invention patent on cleaning, “seven and a half” persons, one shabby workshop, and rmb10, 000 of loan. this was bluestar, which unveiled industrial cleaning as the 361st profession in china. committed to contributing to the prosperity of the country through industrial development, bluestar merged a number of soes in difficulties, including xinghuo silicones and nantong xingchen, dragging them out of financial difficulty. going through such an arduous way, bluestar has evolved from a cleaning company into a company specialized in new chemical materials and a leader in the industry. the acquisition of adisseo france in 2006 made bluestar a pioneer in “going global”. marching onto the international arena, bluestar improved its coverage of the industry chain, enhanced its cooperation and coordination with foreign peers, and took the lead in adopting a global perspective in business operation. by the end of 2013, bluestar had established 60 plants and 25 research institutes around the world; its business network covered 150 countries and regions with 5 overseas subsidiaries; and its total assets amounted to nearly rmb100 billion.
in his speech ren jianxin said, “since the inauguration of bluestar, human resources have always been my top concern. when new people join the company, go to basic-level units for practice, or attend party school training sessions, i will try to have more communication with them wherever possible so as to hear their opinions and thoughts and share the values of different companies. as technological progress continues and social changes prevail, industrial restructuring is gathering pace, and enterprises are faced with increasingly fierce competitions. company development now no longer follows a linear path. for a company to weather the storm, its leaders are of overwhelming importance. as uncertainties grow, to catch up and take over, bluestar needs a large number of management professionals and technical talents. therefore, we must make more efforts in team building, bring in professional managers, and learn from global best practices.”
ren jianxin called on all bluestar employees to continue their efforts and devotion, invited professional mangers to actively integrate into the bluestar team, and encouraged green hands to spend more time and gain more experience from the front-line. thus, bluestar will have a bright future and create more glory over the next three decades.
after the celebration, general manager ren jianxin, as well as many employees took photos in front of the background panel and visited the exhibition of selected works of the “bluestar 30 years” calligraphy and painting contest.
