the second international symposium on applied silicon chemistry was recently held in seoul, rok. it was undertaken by the korea institute of science and technology. more than 200 people attended the conference, including researchers from the us, canada, germany, the rok and japan, as well as technicians from famous companies such as dowcorning, wacker chemie, shin-etsu chemical and bluestar. fan wuhou, from bluestar chengguang institute’s organosilicone department, attended the meeting on behalf of bluestar. fan won the best poster award for the academic exchange poster he designed. in addition, his research on polymers and silicon dioxide with controllable transparency through sol-gel methods gained wide attention at the conference. there were a total of five best poster award winners.
the isasc is sponsored by the korean silicon society and takes place every three years. the first session was held by yonsei university. the isasc focuses on the latest development achievements of silica-based high-performance materials in photo-electricity, energy, coatings and architecture. it plays an important role in the organosilicone industry across asia.
