according to adisseo, an overseas enterprise under bluestar, as of october 17th, the burgos plant in north spain had maintained a zero production safety accident record of 1,037 consecutive days, reaching a new high.
pablo domenech, burgos general manager said: “the management team’s main objective is to guaranty safety to all our employees and subcontractors who work on the site. we are very proud of this achievement. congratulations to everyone!
but this is only a remarkable milestone. we now must look further and target another stake in the ground on june 8, 2019, to celebrate 2000 days without accident!”
the talent and the engagement of burgos’ employees make the difference in this business strengthen with different long term initiatives.
for example, since 2006, adisseo spain started an operational excellence initiative which aims to involve employees. all of them, no matter their level or department, are working in groups to identify and to implement improvements in day to day operations.
a skills transfer program is also deeply marked around training to focus on safety. employees with great experience (almost 40 years) who have lived the evolution of safety on the plant, play a role of manufacturing mentors. their knowledge is a great asset which helps to train the younger employees.
fieldwork is another key factor of success. one member of the qhse-eo team is daily supervising if risky behavior or unsafe conditions in the facilities are detected. acknowledgement of best practices and dialogue with operators on the ground help to improve permanently the conditions of work.
pablo domenech concluded his speech by reminding everyone concerning safety, nothing was ever acquired and that everyone must constantly show the greatest vigilance.
