bluestar (beijing) chemical machinery has completed its solar photovoltaic project. a total of 25,000 sq m of solar panels have been put into operation and connected to the grid. the project diversified the company’s energy structure from sole dependence on government power supply, and therefore guaranteed the power supply for production and civil use. using pv to generate electricity also brings down costs. at the moment, the company has finished construction of two phases of its pv power generation project, and the roofs of all buildings in the plant are covered with solar panels, with total installed capacity of 1.3 megawatts. the project is expected to supply 1.41 million kilowatt-hours a year, a reduction of 478 tons of standard coal, 1,253.3 tons of carbon dioxide, 7.2 tons of dust and 550,000 yuan ($88,738) in electricity costs.
the company has actively responded to the call from china and chemchina for energy conservation and emissions reduction, and acted on the idea of “green chemical.” it has focused on product quality and green manufacturing.
the company got in contact with the beijing economic-technological development area last year and cooperated with a solar company in the area. bluestar beijing actively played its part in the construction of the project, overcoming many difficulties to finish on time. the success of the project will enable bluestar beijing to tap into solar energy for daily use, and then switch over to the government power supply when solar energy runs out. solar electricity costs 5-20 percent less than energy supplied by the government, and therefore, the project will bring in remarkable economic and social benefits for the company.
