bluestar (beijing) technology center co., ltd. (bluestar technology center) was established in march 2014 as theheadquarters for technology applications of china national bluestar (group) co., ltd. (bluestar).
the bluestar technology center provides service to bluestar subsidiaries, focusing on products and technology innovations in the chemical industry. main work disciplines are process optimization, new product development, advanced process control (apc), intelligent alarm management, safety instrumented systems (sis) and six sigma online applications among other areas of interest in the chemical process industry.
through these comprehensive solutions the bluestar technology center enhances production outputs, operational safety, product competitiveness and asset utilization of its customers.
in recent years and under the leadership of dr. harry ni - chief technology officer of bluestar, general manager of technology center, and an internationally renowned expert in the chemical process industry - the bluestar technology center and bluestar subsidiaries have teamed up to implement optimization projects in multiple operations facilities.
technology improvements have been deployed in processes such as silicones, bisphenol-a (bpa), polyphenylene ether (ppe) and phenol-cumene-acetone among others under various scopes shown below:
· low or no investment process optimization
· process debottlenecks with high return on investment via innovation.
· unit operation efficiency improvements.
· quality improvement of specialty products, enabling to separate themselves from mid-stream competition and moving towards to the domestic and international leading performance. these quality improvements result in better sales prices, market competitiveness enhancement and have earned recognition and praise within the industry.
by the end of 2017 (vs. 2012 baseline), technology center projects have accumulated over 2 billion rmb in financial income for the subsidiaries. new products and new processes have been developed and/or undergoing industrialization during this same time span, such as high-activity low-volatile polypropyleneglycol and solution-based ppe.
the company brings together a group of well-known experts in their respective fields in the industry, combining strong r&d backgrounds and skills with engineering capabilities.
by the end of 2017, bluestar technology center has applied for more than 40 patents in total from which 23 have been granted by the state patent office to form technologies with independent intellectual property rights.
in 2016 bluestar technology center was approved as a national high-tech enterprise. in 2017, bluestar technology center was approved as a zhongguancun high-tech enterprise.
bluestar technology center won provincial and ministerial technology awards as either owner or co-participant, including:
· first prize of science and technology progress award issued by china petroleum and chemical industry federation in 2015: the project “key technology development and application of 200kt/a bpa-epoxy green manufacturing”
· first prize of science and technology award issued by china petroleum and chemical industry association in 2015: the project “optimization technology and application in ppg batch process”
· first prize of science and technology award issued by china petroleum and chemical industry association in 2016: the project “lean management of manufacturing process it system in nantong xingchen”
· outstanding award of science and technology award issued by chemchina in 2016: the project “key technology development and application of 150kt/a pc-grade bpa manufacturing”
in 2014, 2015 and 2017, the technology center team led by dr. ni three times won “chemchina medal”, and won chemchina patent advanced enterprise in 2016. also, the patent “automatic control method and layout for the heavy ends removal system” won chemchina patent excellence award.
